Saxophonist Jordan Reed, an instructor in 蓝莓视频鈥檚 Department of Music, will be performing at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 25, in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

鈥淭his recital will feature the unusual combination of saxophone and double-neck guitar using effects and looping pedals,鈥 said Reed, who is also an instructor of jazz at 蓝莓视频. 鈥淐omprised of all original music, the recital will be heavily rooted in improvisation and incorporate multimedia elements. Using harmonies and chord changes commonly found in Rock 鈥檔鈥 Roll and popular music, the goal of the group is to use sounds and forms that are in most popular and neo-classical music, but presented in a way that helps bridge the gap between both worlds.鈥

The event is free and open to the public. The recital will also feature a duo called M茝MZ, comprised of a saxophone and a double neck guitar. Guitarist for the recital is Turner Matthews.

鈥淛ordan joined our department four years ago and has been a great addition,鈥 said Marshall Kimball, Chairman of the Music Department. 鈥淗is expertise and creative musical thinking are very refreshing and always enjoyable. Those attending this recital will be presented with a wonderful musical package to stretch their sense of what music can be.鈥
