Federal Pell Grant

The federal government offers the to undergraduate students who
demonstrate financial need as determined by the ¹ó´¡¹ó³§´¡Â® and have not earned a bachelor’s,
graduate, or professional degree.
The maximum Federal Pell Grant for the 2024-25 award year is $7,395. In some situations,
students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell Grant for an award year. For example,
students could receive additional Pell Grant for a summer term. Students are not eligible to
receive Federal Pell Grant funds from more than one school at a time.
A Federal Pell Grant does not have to be repaid. However, there may be some circumstances
where you may have to repay a portion of this grant. To see additional examples that may

Federal TEACH Grant

A grant requires students to complete a teaching service obligation. If students do not complete the service obligation, the TEACH Grant will be converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan that must be repaid with interest charged from the date of each TEACH Grant disbursement.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant

The FAFSA determines student eligibility for the , which À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ administers. MC Student Financial Services awards FSEOGs to enrolled undergraduate students with the greatest financial need.

Students can receive between $100 and $4,000 per year. À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ receives a certain amount of FSEOG funds each year from the US. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid. Once the full amount has been awarded to students, no additional FSEOG awards will be given for that year.

FSEOGs do not have to be repaid. However, there may be some circumstances where you may have to repay a portion of this grant. To see additional examples that may require a repayment, . 

Federal Work-Study Program

Federal Work-Study (FWS) requires completion of the FAFSA and is awarded based on demonstrated financial need after all other financial aid has been applied.

The Federal Work-Study program provides part-time, flexible, on-campus employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to help offset educational expenses. Students earn their funding by working throughout the academic year. Earnings may be paid directly to the student and/or applied to the student’s billing account.

Choose Ohio First Scholarship

The Choose Ohio First Scholarship is part of Ohio's strategic effort to increase the number of graduates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ in the following majors:

  • Actuarial Science
  • Biochemistry
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Environmental Science
  • Environmental Studies
  • Geology
  • Health Science
  • Mathematics
  • Neuroscience
  • Petroleum Engineering
  • Physics
  • Physician Assistant Studies (Graduate Program)
  • Planetary Science
  • Psychology (Graduate Program only)

Eligible undergraduate students must be residents of Ohio. Selected recipients could receive a Choose Ohio First Scholarship up to $5,500 annually based on eligibility requirements and funding levels determined by the State of Ohio. 

To be considered for the Choose Ohio First Scholarship, a student must:

  • Be admitted to À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ as a full-time student
  • Show evidence of strong academic achievement with a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school or college work
  • Present a two-page essay explaining career goals and professional aspirations as well as how the Choose Ohio First Scholarship will enable them to work toward a STEM degree successfully

Ohio College Opportunity Grant

The Ohio Department of Higher Education administers the
. This grant money is provided to Ohio residents who have financial need as determined by the ¹ó´¡¹ó³§´¡Â®. Students enrolled at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ are eligible to receive this Ohio-based
grant. Students with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $3,750 or less and a maximum household income of $96,000. For the 2024-25 academic year, full-time students at À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ are eligible for
up to $5,000 of this grant annually.

OCOG can only be applied to tuition and general fee charges. If a student’s total institutional
aid exceeds the total cost of tuition and/or fees, OCOG will be reduced to only cover the
remaining tuition and general fee expenses. The general fee is defined as those assessed to all students.

Ohio Governor’s Merit Scholarship

The is a merit-based scholarship funded by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. It is given to students who are determined to be in the top 5% of their public or chartered nonpublic high school graduating class, as well as the top 5% of homeschooled students and dropout prevention recovery school students. Eligible students can receive up to $5,000 each academic year.
Students must meet the following requirements:
• Be an Ohio resident
• Be enrolled in a qualifying Ohio institution of higher education
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Complete at least 20 credit hours per academic year
Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to receive it for up to four academic years. Please note that the Ohio Department of Higher Education requires that students comply with the selective service law in order to be eligible for Ohio’s state grants and/or scholarships per the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) section 3345.32.

GEAR UP Grant

The (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)
Grant project aims to help support low-income and first-generation college students. This
project works to increase academic performance, enrollment in institutions of higher
education, and awareness of financial and professional options for students.
Students are eligible to receive GEAR UP funding if they:
• Participate in GEAR UP Ohio programming for at least one year
• Earn a high school diploma or GED
• Are enrolled or accepted in an eligible undergraduate program at an eligible
institution
• Are less than 22 years old at time of their first GEAR UP award
Eligible À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ students can receive up to $750 (funding subject to change per
year) per academic year for up to eight semesters.
Please note that the Ohio Department of Higher Education requires that students comply
with the selective service law in order to be eligible for Ohio’s state grants and/or
scholarships per the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) section 3345.32.

PA State Grant

The FAFSA is used fort he PA State Grant application process. Below are the eligibility
requirements:

  • High School graduate
  • Enrolled at least half-time (at least 6 semester credit hours)
  • Admitted and enrolled in an approved program of study of at least 2 academic years in length
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Not have already earned a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Are a Pennsylvania resident
  • Not have received the maximum number of PA State Grants permitted
  • Not be in default on an educational loan; this also applies to any program where the award has been converted to a loan and the loan is in a default status
  • File a by the appropriate deadlines and complete the application process
