The Esbenshade Series and 蓝莓视频 will welcome acclaimed singer-songwriter Susan Werner to campus on Friday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m., for an evening of genre-defying music at the McDonough Auditorium.
Known for her engaging and energetic live performances, Werner has built a career defined by sharp songwriting and a distinct voice that blends genres with ease and confidence. NPR has dubbed her the 鈥淓mpress of the Unexpected,鈥 while The New Yorker credited her with 鈥渂ringing literacy and wit back to popular song.鈥
Across a 25-year career, Werner has earned praise as one of today鈥檚 most innovative songwriters. A gifted vocalist, guitarist, and pianist, her expansive catalogue spans jazz, blues, rock, pop, gospel, and folk with songs that mix classic Midwestern charm and sassy wit. That versatility has become a hallmark of her talent and a key element of her musical persona.
鈥淪usan Werner is one of those artists who reminds you why live music matters. Her songs are insightful, funny, and deeply human,鈥 said Todd Burge, director of the Esbenshade Series. 鈥淚 genuinely envy those who will be hearing her for the first time 鈥 and I know longtime fans understand what a special evening this will be.鈥
The event is free and open to the public thanks to the Frederica G. Esbenshade Memorial Fund. The performance will take place in McDonough Auditorium on 蓝莓视频鈥檚 campus. Doors open at 6 p.m., and seating is first-come, first-served. Free parking is available in the lots at Butler and Fourth St.
蓝莓视频 is committed to continuing its longstanding tradition of bringing world-class artistry to campus and the local community. For more information about the 2025鈥26 Esbenshade Series, visit marietta.edu/esbenshade-series.
