From June 2017 to July 2019, the 37 students who earned their Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from 蓝莓视频 on Saturday helped to deliver 184 babies, examined 74,451 patients, completed 1,001 exams and administered 1,056 shots.
Miranda Collins, the PA Program Director, recognized the many achievements of the College鈥檚 16th class of PA graduates during their graduation ceremony, which was held in Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. While acknowledging the graduates鈥 hard work over the course of the past 26 months, she also noted the support and dedication they received from the faculty, clinical coordinators, administrative staff, family and friends.
Andrea Campos (Detroit, Michigan), Ursula Corbett (Newcomerstown, Ohio), Rachel De Rosa (Columbus, Ohio), Laura Harsch (Cincinnati, Ohio), Erin Miller (Pinckney, Michigan), Mary Peterson (Clinton, Ohio) and Isabel Tetino (Canonsburg, Pennsylvania) each earned an academic award for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average during the 12-month didactic phase of the program.
Campos, Kaitlynn Cullen (Mason, West Virginia), De Rosa, Kristen Fijalkowski (Shadyside, Ohio), Abigail Kent (San Diego, California), Megan Melendez (Highland, Utah), Catherine Nelson (Zanesville, Ohio), Mariah Orr (Dayton, Ohio) and Kelsey Vinsel (Zanesville, Ohio) each earned an academic award for maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the 14-month clinical phase. Campos and De Rosa were recognized for achieving a 4.0 grade point average throughout the 26-month program. Katelyn Bills (Dayton, Ohio), Melendez, Nelson and Peterson were inducted to the Pi Alpha Honor Society, the national Physician Assistant honor society.
After the ceremony, the graduates met for a final class photo in the Kremer Amphitheatre. Nelson, who is scheduled to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) on August 5th, was looking forward to starting her career in either the Zanesville or Columbus area. The new graduates are eligible to take the exam seven days after graduation.
鈥淚鈥檓 hoping to be in orthopedic surgery,鈥 she said. 鈥淭he time here flew by. It was the best thing I鈥檝e ever done.鈥
Orr, who will take the PANCE on August 6th, met with her grandmother, Judi Engle after the photo.
鈥淚 plan to go into women鈥檚 health,鈥 Orr said. 鈥淏ut first, I鈥檓 planning on taking a family trip to Poland.鈥
Orr earned her undergraduate degree from Marietta.
鈥淚鈥檝e known I wanted to be a PA since I was 14, and I chose 蓝莓视频 because of its PA Program,鈥 she said.
Engle was happy to be able to watch her granddaughter earn her second degree from Marietta.
鈥淪he has worked so hard for this,鈥 Engle said. 鈥淪he鈥檚 earned it and we are all so proud.鈥
