蓝莓视频 will welcome prospective high school students and their families to campus for Physician Assistant Visit Day on Friday, Dec. 5, taking place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The day serves as an introduction to 蓝莓视频鈥檚 widely recognized Physician Assistant Studies program.
The day will begin with a discussion led by Program Director Christi Gierhart, where attendees will learn about career opportunities as a physician assistant, the PA program鈥檚 curriculum, and its various avenues for admission, including the direct-admit pathways available to a select pool of eligible high school students.
Afterward, family members will meet with the Office of Admission to discuss application steps and financial aid assistance, while students will move to the Physician Assistant Building to take part in hands-on learning sessions. The rotations will include practicing ultrasound scanning, suturing, radiograph interpretation, and physical exam skills 鈥 all of which will be supervised by faculty members and current clinical year PA students.
Attendees will also be able to speak with current students and ask questions about the learning sessions, their experience in the program, or about the occupation itself.
鈥淥ur main goal is to promote the profession 鈥 oftentimes, people don鈥檛 know what a physician assistant is or what our capabilities are,鈥 Gierhart said. 鈥淲e hope that by exposing prospective students to the field, we can display our passion for both our careers and medicine.鈥
