Also, during the conference, Marietta鈥檚 Dr. Chyrsten Gessel was recognized as the 2023 GLATA Council on Early Career Athletic Trainers (CECAT) Preceptor of the Year.

鈥淟ast spring, I was able to work with an athletic training student from Ohio University during her clinical immersion experience prior to graduation,鈥 Gessel said. 鈥淒uring her time at 蓝莓视频, she worked with me to provide health care to the women鈥檚 lacrosse team. ...  I am honored to be recognized for this award. Working with students is my passion. I consider myself lucky to be a dual-appointed athletic trainer where I get to teach and mentor the future of our profession in the classroom and clinic.鈥

At the conference, Schwieterman and Gessel accompanied two Marietta students 鈥 Allison Hanstine MAT 鈥24 (Pomeroy, Ohio) and Lauren Redfern MAT 鈥24 (Bellbrook, Ohio).
